Stranger, foreigner, alien; I am not a part of the cultural norm, and I do not belong to this world. I am in it, but I do not want to be of it. This is not home. Having grown up in a multicultural setting contributes to this realization. Where is home? The answer informs my work. Yet, how do I represent this? With an overwhelming amount of beautiful details in this universe, what will I choose to comment on and how can I possibly decide? For much of my work, I reflect on the truth of God’s word or the beauty of His creation. I often express through bold, exuberant, explosive configurations and hope to provoke others to contemplate. Ultimately, the ability to create and the inspiration for what I create comes from my savior Jesus. I am saved by grace through faith in Him. And in Him I find hope, joy, and peace. I find home.
